Like white milk, chocolate milk is a great source of calcium, phosphorus, protein and vitamin D. Kids and adults alike love the taste of chocolate milk. And that’s great because chocolate milk has all of the same vitamins, minerals and other nutrients as white milk.

You can make chocolate milk at home using chocolate drink powder or syrup. The amount of sugar in chocolate milk made at home may contain more or less sugar than dairy case chocolate milk, depending on how it is mixed.

Chocolate milk makes a great snack and helps build and maintain strong bones and teeth! It is an excellent source of calcium and the 14 other nutrients found in milk, it contains less caffeine than other popular beverages (only 2 - 7 mg caffeine, versus 45mg in a cola drink and more that 80 mg. in coffee) and the total amount of sugar in chocolate milk is the same as the amount of sugar in an equal amount of unsweetened orange juice or apple juice.

And because chocolate milk is a liquid and not sticky, chocolate milk doesn't stay in your mouth very long or cling to the surface of your teeth. In addition, the calcium, protein and fats in milk help protect the teeth from the effects of the sugars. Dental hygienists include chocolate milk in their list of good snacking foods.
