What are the symptoms?

There are no symptoms! It is only when a person breaks a bone easily that osteoporosis shows itself. It is because of this quiet slow development that osteoporosis is called “the Silent Thief.”

Is there anything I can do to prevent osteoporosis?

Some people are more at risk of developing osteoporosis than others. Some risk factors you can change, others you cannot. One of the best ways to look after your bones is to get plenty of calcium when you are young. Check your calcium needs here. It doesn’t stop when you are young. You should make sure you get enough calcium throughout your whole life.
